Remotely Control an Implant from the Outside
What is the PRECICE® Nail?
PRECICE® is an innovative, market-leading solution to help patients with limb length discrepancy (LLD).
The PRECICE® system is an intramedullary device that once implanted utilizes an External Remote Controller (ERC) to non-invasively lengthen the femur and tibia.
Clinical Benefits:
The Precice Difference
For decades, Ilizarov’s distraction osteogenesis using external fixation was the best option for limb lengthening. New advancing in medical technology now allow for less invasive alternatives. The PRECICE system eliminates the need for an external fixation frame or external fixation. External fixation frames are commonly associated with pin site infections and other complications.
This innovative intramedullary limb lengthening system allows for a precise, controlled lengthening phase with the ability to shorten the device if necessary.
Why Precice
The non-invasive magnetic interaction between the PRECICE implant and the PRECICE External Remote Controller (ERC)—a portable, hand-held unit that lengthens the PRECICE implant—is what sets this system apart from traditional treatment.
The PRECICE ERC is programmed to accurately lengthen the femur or tibia based upon the surgeon’s prescription. Weekly clinical and radiographic evaluations are performed to confirm lengthening and to calculate new bone formation.
The PRECICE Intramedullary Limb Lengthening System is available for preoperative templating using the TraumaCad® digital imaging software system.
